Tower Rescue Level III

September 5 & 6, 2007 (8 am–5 pm)

How do you perform a rescue on a "tall tower"?

Tower rescues can be ground-based or tower-based and are often dependent on the length of rope available. On a 300 foot tower, a ground-based rescue takes at least 600 foot ropes.  For a tower-based rescue it takes at least a 300 foot rope which is heavy and bulky to climb with. The taller the tower the greater the rope length needed.  So what if your ropes are not long enough?  This class will provide the answer and give you the knowledge to overcome these obstacles.

Special Requirements:

  • Tower Rescue at State Fire School or Tower Rescue I and II through CVCC.

You must bring with you the following:

  • Rescue helmet with 3 point chin strap (no fire helmets), rescue harness (preferably full body or sit/chest combination), brake bar rack, work or hiking boots, rescue gloves (no fire gloves), clothing appropriate for current or anticipated weather (bring rain gear).

Optional equipment:

  • Family service radio
